Reporting and earning season kicks off today with lots of tech and games companies spaffing big numbers against the wall in the hope of pleasing their shareholders. Nintendo suits were hopefully getting pissed in Kyoto shouting the goodish news.
Nintendo Switch total hardware sales hit 41.67 million globally to the end of September, with the Switch Lite selling 1.95 million in just 10 days of sale. During the last quarter (the slow summer one) some 4.8 million Switches were sold along with 35.88 million Nintendo first party games. Check out the English PDF report for more detail.
First party game sales are led by the usual suspects with numbers that Sony and Microsoft can only dream about All told they helped generate a total of 443,967 million yen (about $1 billion) in net sales for the last six months, up 14.2% on last year's comparable figure. That's a tidy 94,222 million yen (around $867.69 million) in operating profit, up 53.4%.
